Google is facing legal action in the UK over claims it breached the privacy of people browsing the internet on Apple computers and mobile devices.

Twelve people are seeking damages from the company for allegedly tracking their use of the web without their knowledge.

The claimants say Google designed a code to secretly install cookies - small tracking files - on the Safari internet browser.

Cookies can be used to target advertising based on the type of websites someone looks at.

Surfthechannel used to be one of the UK’s most popular sources of pirated content. 38 year old Anton Vickerman has been found guilty of conspiracy of defraud in June for “facilitating” copyright infringement. Surfthechannel.com had acted as an index of professionally made online videos - both legal and illegal - encouraging its users to send in new links and check that they worked. The site did not host the video files itself, instead it point the visitors to other sites such as mega video and china’s tudou.

Olympics Fuel Mobile Search Surge on Google

Smartphone searches for information regarding the Olympics have passed those that are made on tablets and PCs, according to data recently released by Google.

The search engine released the data on their blog, explaining that Olympic related searches had dramatically increased in the first week of the games.

For example in the UK 46 percent of all Olympic searches where made on smartphones and tablets.

Facebook is to allow app developers to advertise their products on its members' mobile-device news feeds. Everybody knows that the Facebook shares have nearly dropped half their value very recently.
